Islamabad court dismisses against case Sanam Javed

An Islamabad district and sessions court on Sunday dismissed the case against the PTI activist Sanam Javed made over tweets on social media platform X.

The local court dismissed the case against PTI activist Sanam Javed. Duty Magistrate Malik Imran pronounced the reserved verdict on Sanam Javed’s remand.

The court accepted the request of Sanam Javed’s lawyers to be excluded from the case.

Earlier, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has discharged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Sanam Javed from the Gujranwala case.

A two-member bench led by Justice Asjad Javed Gharal heard Sanam Javed’s petition on Wednesday.

In her plea, she challenged the physical remand issued in the Gujranwala Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) case, arguing that she was being unfairly targeted in politically motivated cases.

She claimed that she was repeatedly arrested in new cases immediately after being released from others. The PTI activist’s petition stated that the ongoing legal actions against her were politically driven and requested the court to dismiss the case.

The public prosecutor countered that Ms Javed was implicated based on statements linking her to incidents of arson on May 9, which are currently under investigation.

Despite these claims, the court ruled in favor of Sanam Javed, discharging her from the Gujranwala case.
