Earlier, if a patient used to buy a week’s worth of medicine, now he comes to buy it only when there is a dire need.
Sources said that these medicines are being sold in black at different places. There is a shortage of epilepsy medicines in Lahore, antibiotic injections for various infections are not available, different brands of medicines for high blood pressure and heart problems are also rare.
Seasonal allergy medications, various brands of insulin, and Healer are also short. Hepamers for hepatitis patients are also rare in pharmacies. Various cough syrups, eye, ear drops and wound creams are also in short supply. According to Shoaib Butt, the patient has been looking for medicine for several days, but it is not available anywhere.
Provincial Minister Dr. Jamal Nasir said that strict action will be taken against black sale of medicines in the market.
Nadeem Haider, the owner of the medical store, said that Human Lane insulin is in short supply, if you order 500, you get 100. Citizen Owais Chaudhry said that medicines used to be available at cheap prices, now they have become many times more expensive.
