World Interfaith Harmony Week will be observed from February 1 to 7 across the world, including Pakistan. The main purpose of celebrating this day is to promote inter-religious harmony across the world. This year, the United Nations has chosen the theme of “Cohesion in a Crisis-ridden World” for this week. It should be noted that the decision to celebrate the World Interfaith Harmony Week was taken in 2010 at the General Assembly meeting. On this occasion, the General Assembly pointed out that mutual understanding and interfaith dialogue are important dimensions of a culture of peace, in the light of which it has been decided to celebrate the World Interfaith Harmony Week.

In its message on the occasion of this week, the United Nations has said that recognizing the imperative need for dialogue between different faiths and religions to promote mutual understanding, harmony and cooperation among peoples, all States should be interfaith. The message of harmony and goodwill needs to be spread in churches, mosques, synagogues, temples and other places around the world. During the World Interfaith Harmony Week, various programs and events will be organized by various governmental and non-governmental organizations across the country to make the general public aware of the importance of interfaith harmony.
